JAMESTOWN, N.C. (October 5, 2021) – Thomas Stith III, president of the North Carolina Community College System, spent last Friday afternoon touring three Guilford Technical Community College campuses and learning about the college’s aviation, welding, machining, and healthcare programs.

“Our community colleges are the job engine for North Carolina,” said Stith. “The ‘Great 58’ serve hundreds of thousands of students per year, and I appreciate Guilford Technical Community College’s leadership and commitment to student success as we move forward and continue to provide pathways to opportunities for North Carolinians.”

Stith was escorted by GTCC President Anthony Clarke, PhD, and GTCC Senior VP of Instruction Beth Pitonzo, PhD. His tour began at the Aviation Campus, then traveled to the Center for Advanced Manufacturing to visit and receive a hands-on experience in the robotic welding classroom, followed by a tour of the Hassell Health Technology Center to view the Anatomage table and UBiSim labs. He completed his stop talking to current GTCC students in the student center within the recently renovated Medlin Campus Center in Jamestown.
